How to run standups without meetings
The daily standup interrupts flow and rarely says what shipped. Here's how to go fully async in Slack — and still get a truthful picture of the day.
The standup meeting made sense when teams sat in one room. For distributed, flow-driven engineering teams it mostly interrupts deep work to recite ticket numbers. You can get everything useful about a standup — alignment and unblocking — without the meeting.
Replace the meeting with an async wrap
Instead of a live call, everyone runs a 30-second /wrap in Slack at the end of their day: hours and a short note. A clean summary lands in a shared channel for the rest of the team to read whenever they're online.
